This ornate piece can best be described as a Chinoiserie mirror from the Chippendale period. It exhibits rococo style. It features carved birds and pagoda elements. It was formerly in the home of a 100 year old woman above her fireplace. Over mantel mirrors were popular during this period. They often featured a rectangle shape and elaborate carvings. The finish has been left untouched. The mirror has been replaced by us due to the inability to find someone to resilver it. We love the grandeur, scale, ornate carvings and the gold brushed finish. It would look stunning in an entry, above a fireplace or possibly above a console.
